IN THIS GUIDE · Resolve an identity discrepancy before relying on a payment instruction
Start with the GOLD CARD eligibility and application overview
Preserve the actual records and correspondence
Identify which person and case the communication concerns and compare it with genuine identity records. Distinguish a typographical issue from a substantive difference without assuming either. Follow the official process for clarification; do not invent a correction deadline, automatic extension or requirement to submit every document again.
Keep the current payment terms clear
Official terms specify US$15,000 nonrefundable processing per person. Following successful vetting and instructions, the gift is US$1 million per individual principal or US$2 million per corporate-sponsored employee principal. Every eligible included spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$1 million and US$15,000, including corporate cases; initial inclusion is recommended. Corporate terms include 1% annual maintenance and 5% transfer with a new background check, without automatic replacement approval.
Treat a corrected record as one part of the case
Gold Card remains subject to EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility as appropriately determined, admissibility and visa availability. Correcting an identity detail does not grant residence, present work permission or citizenship. The gift is not commercial equity or a guaranteed investment return. Use actual official notices for the next step rather than treating an amended private form as a government decision.
Follow the official payment sequence and individual amounts
The program's terms, amounts and family provisions have been announced and revised through official channels, so a description that was accurate last quarter may be incomplete now. The official framework describes successful applicants proceeding through the existing employment-based first and second preference classifications, which means the ordinary requirements of those categories, admissibility, and visa availability continue to apply. Third-party summaries tend to describe the program as a fast visa, which it is not; the official material describes a gift-based framework with its own process. Before a payment is authorized, the official programme material and any accompanying presidential action should be read in their current form, and the amounts, the sequence of steps and the treatment of family members should be confirmed there. Use only verified government channels for each instructed step and retain confirmations, identifiers and source records. A provider's retainer and invoice establish a private service arrangement; the official application confirmation, agency message, and payment receipt establish different facts. When an official instruction calls for payment, match the named applicant, payor, amount and recipient before funds move. Gold Card is not a conventional visa: it involves a payment by the applicant to the U.S. government and does not itself replace screening, adjudication, or any separate immigration condition.
Verify the current official framework
The official FAQ says applicants receive State Department instructions about visa fees and payments for the required medical examination. Under EB-5 the investor's money is placed in an enterprise, is at risk and may be returned; under the Gold Card the official page describes a gift to the United States. Under the current official framework, a successful applicant receives lawful permanent resident status as an EB-1 or EB-2 visa holder, which authorizes employment generally. Establish first whether you satisfy the requirements the official process sets, including any underlying immigrant category basis it relies upon, and whether anything in your history — a prior refusal, an overstay, a criminal matter — would be an obstacle under general admissibility law. Re-verify every current term through the official program before any money moves; financial capacity does not guarantee the desired schedule. Ask for the official procedure before offering a start date, ending sponsorship, or announcing a replacement. A sponsor’s promise to reimburse does not make its account the official payer or convert a private transfer into the required gift payment by the applicant. The review should avoid treating a press report, consultant summary, or payment request as official authorization.
