Keep a traceable correction record
Identify the original issuer, the inaccurate item and the available supporting evidence. Obtain an authentic correction where appropriate rather than editing a copy to make the file appear consistent.
The official page describes the application and vetting process; expect to provide identity documents, civil records for the family, evidence of the lawful source of the gift funds and whatever the official form requests. The principal should include any joining spouse and unmarried children younger than 21 on the initial online application; prepare each person’s passports, civil records, prior applications, relevant notices, travel chronology, and name-change evidence. For anything filed with USCIS, a foreign-language document needs a full English translation carrying the translator’s certification of competence and completeness under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3); a consular process may instruct otherwise, so the instruction itself belongs in the file beside the document. The applicant is named on the application; the payer is named on the payment record; the qualifying relatives are named by the relationship evidence — birth or marriage records showing the connection the published terms require.
