Read the general professional work overview
When the offer and assignment schedule describe different work, collecting more credentials may leave the central TN issue unresolved. Establish the actual temporary professional activity first, then connect the appropriate listed profession and qualifications to one accurate account.
Send a discrepancy list to the decision-maker
Hypothetical example: an engineering offer promises design responsibilities, but the customer schedule mainly lists installation support. Quote the conflicting duties and ask the employer who can resolve them. Request an explanation of the real work, including any genuine change in scope. Avoid rewriting the assignment solely to match a preferred profession.
Attach evidence to the agreed description
Identify the exact profession and its prescribed qualifications or permitted alternatives. Eligible Canadian or Mexican citizenship is a separate requirement. Degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States require a reliable evaluation; US practice licensing is a separate issue. Give the reviewer the actual employment, customer and ownership arrangement, including any applicant control of the US recipient. Providing services to a US entity solely owned or controlled by the applicant is prohibited TN self-employment; an interest in a foreign business alone is not that prohibition.
Keep a version record through the start decision
Retain the earlier documents, dated changes and final employer confirmation. If a customer contract changes again before travel, identify the affected duties rather than quietly substituting another letter. The temporary arrangement and authorization process still need assessment. A polished employer letter cannot authorize work before the appropriate permission exists.
