Which documents explain control that changes after later payments?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Keep the signed purchase and governance documents, payment schedule and any amendments that change decision rights. Show which conditions have been met and which remain outstanding.

Build a dated account of authority

For each important right, identify its holder now and the event that changes it. Support completed payments with recipient and bank records, and distinguish a future obligation from capital already committed under qualifying terms. A summary is useful only if it reflects the actual agreement. Do not present the buyer’s expected authority after final payment as current authority without explaining the condition.

Collect the relative's statements covering each disputed payment, the invoices and receipts they settled, a written declaration of the arrangement, evidence of the relative's own lawful source, and the investor's records showing reimbursement or the funds' origin. Commitment shows the money has gone into the enterprise and cannot come back: invoices and matching payments, the lease and rent receipts, payroll registers, licence and incorporation fees, and the business bank account showing the balance being deployed rather than parked. Request the full set before committing anything: the capitalization table, the shareholder or operating agreement, bylaws, board and shareholder resolutions, the subscription or purchase agreement, recent financial statements, corporate registration filings, and any employment agreement offered alongside the stake.
