THE SHORT ANSWER

A Sables-Spanish Rivers household may wish to stagger a move for work, school or care responsibilities. Start from the actual status and entry requirements, then fit practical tasks around them rather than assuming a convenient travel sequence is permitted.

01

Identify the person and intended activity

Dependent eligibility generally concerns a spouse and unmarried children under 21, subject to the applicable immigrant age-protection assessment. TD does not authorize employment. A qualifying spouse in appropriate E or L status may work incident to status with required evidence; children do not receive that permission. Study plans and financial dependence do not automatically extend temporary dependent status.

02

Respect the immigrant entry sequence

Immigrant-visa derivatives must enter with or after the principal. A plan to arrange housing first does not override that rule. Confirm each document’s validity and actual instructions for later arrival. CSPA depends on case-specific dates and conditions, not a universal age freeze triggered by payment, and should not be treated as a general extension of TD, E or L child status.

03

Budget from the actual inclusion list

For Gold Card, each eligible included spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$1 million and US$15,000 nonrefundable processing, including corporate cases. The FAQ recommends initial inclusion for those intending to join; application inclusion and physical travel dates are distinct. Do not assume a later flight removes a charge or guarantees later acceptance. Keep each person’s permission, family role and funding clear before making a shared commitment.
