THE SHORT ANSWER

A Sables-Spanish Rivers applicant should connect the name on a professional offer with the entity responsible for employment. A familiar brand is not an explanation of a payroll or contract difference.

01

Identify who can confirm the relationship

Collect the offer, contract and relevant employer explanation. Determine whether the names describe a trading style, affiliate or actual employer change. TN requires Canadian or Mexican citizenship, temporary professional activity in a listed USMCA profession and the particular qualifications. Neither a well-known brand nor a different letterhead changes the substantive duty test.

02

Attach credentials and ownership facts to the real proposal

Use authentic qualifications, with any alternatives allowed by the exact profession; experience is not a universal substitute for a degree. Degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States require a reliable foreign-credential evaluation, while licensing and translation are separate issues. Disclose US recipient ownership: services to an entity solely owned or controlled by the applicant are prohibited TN self-employment. A foreign business interest alone is not that prohibition.

03

Check the final entity before the intended start

Retain the old and new names and effective dates if a reorganization occurs. Canadians generally can request TN admission without a visa, while Mexican citizens generally require one; the actual application or admission procedure still needs review. A corporate change can alter an employment arrangement without granting permission to work under the new facts.
