Provide an accurate dated account of active employment, the leave and return, with supporting records available for those periods.
Make the chronology reviewable
Identify the foreign entity, duties and work locations without concealing an interval because it complicates the calculation. Resolve conflicting dates with the record holder. A summary should point to evidence rather than replacing it with a conclusion that the year qualifies.
Ask for four things in one request, so the company assembles them together: the current and proposed organisational charts, the approval or delegation matrix, the transition memorandum with its effective dates, and the payroll records covering the qualifying year abroad. For trading, the American side needs to look like a working business rather than an acquisition on a balance sheet: recent payroll registers, current service agreements with turbine owners, issued invoices, lease or premises documents and a filed federal return. Mixed paperwork is the usual problem, with premises taken in the parent's name, an account opened personally, or invoices issued by an entity that was never registered, and each mismatch invites a question costing more to answer later than to prevent now.
