Current official terms specify US$15,000 nonrefundable processing per person. Every eligible included spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$1 million and US$15,000, including corporate cases. Initial inclusion is recommended for relatives intending to join; it does not guarantee eligibility or synchronized decisions.
Distinguish funding from the remaining legal process
EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility as applicable, admissibility and visa availability remain necessary. Corporate terms include 1% annual maintenance and 5% transfer with a new background check, without automatic replacement approval. The government gift provides no commercial equity or promised return. Payment does not grant present work permission, residence, citizenship or a guaranteed date. What the official material describes, in its own terms
The official material states that permanent residence flows through existing employment-based categories as determined by the administering authorities, subject to visa availability. Any approach that describes the programme in terms borrowed from other categories — an investment, a job-creation requirement, a return on capital — is describing something the official framework does not say. The official programme also describes possible State Department fees and medical-examination payments, with actual instructions depending on the applicant’s circumstances. Treat the Gold Card as a framework whose official instructions must be checked at the moment of action. Sequence private and public obligations carefully: review the sponsor contract, confirm the applicant’s independent immigration facts, complete verified payment instructions, and preserve the result for the filing. Gold Card is an official program framework rather than a conventional standalone visa category, and its gift-plus-fee terms must be re-verified on the official site before any money moves. A first review should make a dated comparison table: the official instruction, the applicant named in it, the payee, each amount, and the eligibility stage that comes before payment. Keep private reimbursement, employment and tax questions in separate records because they do not alter the official recipient or create a conventional visa.
Match each payment to official instructions
The applicant must still be eligible for lawful permanent residence, admissible, and have an available visa; the described process includes an application, further USCIS instructions, vetting, and the gift when instructed. An intermediary who supplies banking details by message, asks for urgency, or offers to hold funds in an account of their own is describing an arrangement that the official process does not require. A personal decision, an adviser’s file closure and an official case action are different events. An adviser’s proposal can define the work offered but cannot change the government’s eligibility requirements or make a private invoice proof that an official payment was received. Keep official payment instructions, receipts, and the identity of the payer aligned with the selected route. The useful outcome is a list of questions with the exact document and line that prompted each one, then written clarification from the official channel where needed. An instruction arriving by another channel, or asking for funds at this point, does not match the published sequence, and verifying it costs a day while acting on it can cost a great deal more.
