Does an employee-only benefit cover a spouse’s Gold Card charges?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Do not assume it does. An eligible included spouse has a separate US$1 million gift and US$15,000 nonrefundable processing charge, including corporate cases.

Ask for an explicit household decision

Identify which relatives intend to join and who will fund them. Eligible unmarried children under 21 also have the published additional charges, with any applicable CSPA issue reviewed individually. Initial inclusion is recommended in the FAQ, but family decisions and entry dates are not guaranteed to coincide. Derivatives using immigrant visas cannot precede the principal.

Identity and civil documents for every person to be included, a written record of the source of the gift and fee funds, the household's complete immigration and criminal history, and a dated copy of the official instructions. The official program’s current rules control the role of an applicant, any sponsor, and any family member; a private employer cannot convert a relative into an eligible person by paying or promising support. For a program whose terms are recent, those answers must come from the official materials, and where the materials do not address a family situation the household should treat that as an open question to be resolved before payment rather than after.
